University Students Scholarship Program
The University Students Scholarship Program is a comprehensive evangelistic and educational initiative designed to expand opportunities for outstanding graduates of Jehova Jireh Christian School. Rooted in the knowledge of God and His word through a discipleship program and a commitment to equity, professional development, and community transformation, the program currently supports twelve university students pursuing degrees in Engineering, Architecture, Psychology, Nursing, business administration, law and other essential fields that contribute to the social and economic progress of Cristo Rey and Nicaragua.
The program was established in direct response to the needs of the community of Cristo Rey in Tipitapa, an area where many families face systemic barriers to higher education. Cristo Rey is a growing but economically vulnerable community in which employment options are limited, access to reliable transportation is inconsistent, and the financial demands of university education are often beyond the reach of families struggling to meet basic needs.
For many young adults with academic potential, the aspiration to attend university is hindered by several critical challenges. A number of the students supported by the program must travel up to two hours each way to reach their university campuses. These daily commutes result in significant transportation expenses, long hours spent traveling under difficult conditions, and limited time for academic study, rest, or employment. The cumulative strain of these barriers often forces students to drop out of university, despite their academic abilities and commitment to professional advancement.
The University Students Scholarship Program directly addresses these obstacles by offering targeted support that includes monthly transportation stipends, daily meal allowances, academic materials, required textbooks, and occasional specialized equipment necessary for technical or professional coursework. This holistic approach reduces financial pressure on families and allows students to remain focused on their academic responsibilities.
Beyond individual support, the program’s broader mission is to foster long-term community development. By helping students achieve university degrees, the program enhances access to professional employment, increases household stability, and cultivates local leaders who will contribute to the growth and wellbeing of Cristo Rey and its surrounding communities.
Our University Students are learning about leadership through a discipleship program and volunteer service at Jehova Jireh, they are also becoming an example of love and service according to Jesus’ model. Most of them are active members of their local church or part of the Bible study that is offered at the School on Saturdays. The main focus of this program is for them to know more about Jesus. We are investing in future professionals that will help to transform their community and even their country for the glory of God.
Sustaining and expanding the program requires continued partnership from individuals, organizations, and donors who believe in the transformative power of education. Financial contributions allow the program to assist new graduates from Colegio Cristiano Privado Jehovah Jireh each year, ensuring that talented students from Cristo Rey can pursue higher education and break cycles of poverty. Each donation is an investment in human capital, educational equity, and sustainable development. When one student succeeds, an entire family rises. When many students succeed, a community begins to transform.
The University Students Scholarship Program remains committed to empowering future generations, strengthening families, and promoting meaningful change within the community.
This is why your support is invaluable. Donations make it possible for the program to continue reaching new graduates from Jehovah Jireh each year. Your generosity becomes the bridge that carries students from uncertainty to opportunity—from hardship to hope.
Every contribution changes a life. Every life changed gives glory to Jesus.. And together, we can continue building a future where every student has the chance to achieve their purpose in life.
Thank you for your support. God bless you and please donate now.
